Save webpage content as Markdown

Save an article, a selected passage, or one section of a page as an editable .md file, with headings, lists, code, tables, and links intact.

Install from Chrome Web StoreRequires Chrome 118+

Three ways to choose what to save

  • Whole page: Web Paperize finds the main article and leaves out menus, sidebars, and ads.
  • Selected text: exactly what you highlighted, even part of a sentence.
  • One element: pick a section, table, or code block; nothing around it comes along.

How to save it

  1. Open the page, click Web Paperize in the toolbar, and set the format to Markdown.
  2. Click Save as Markdown for the whole page, or Pick an element… to choose one part. For a passage, highlight it, right-click, and choose Save selection as Markdown.
  3. Open the .md file in any Markdown editor or note app.

What is preserved

Headings, paragraphs, lists, quotes, links, tables, and code blocks—with their line breaks and indentation—are converted to standard Markdown (GitHub Flavored Markdown). Images are kept as links to their original location; they are not downloaded into the file.

Good fits

  • Saving documentation and tutorials into your notes.
  • Collecting one table or a few quotes from a long page.
  • Turning an article into text you can edit, search, and reuse.

When the whole page doesn't work

Some pages—dashboards, feeds, search results, web apps—don't have one main article. Instead of saving a pile of menu text, Web Paperize tells you the page isn't suitable. The same can happen on some technical pages where code blocks or tables can't be extracted reliably. In either case, highlight the part you need or use Pick an element…, and save that.

Honest limits

  • Images stay online. If the original site removes or moves them, the links stop working.
  • Some sites place content inside closed components that extensions cannot read; that content is not saved.

How your data is handled

Ordinary webpages are converted locally in Chrome. Web Paperize has no server and does not send page content anywhere; the page itself may still load its own images and scripts as usual.
