Why Markdown suits a conversation
ChatGPT writes its answers in Markdown. Web Paperize saves that text directly, so headings, lists, tables, and code keep their formatting instead of being copied back out of the page.
How to save it
- Open the conversation in Chrome while signed in to ChatGPT.
- Click Web Paperize in the toolbar, choose Markdown, and click Save as Markdown.
- Open the .md file in your Markdown editor or note app.
What the file contains
- Messages in order, labeled by speaker, following the version of the conversation you are viewing.
- Sources listed with the answers that cite them.
- Images as links. ChatGPT image links expire after a while, so download any images you want to keep.
- Attachments listed by name, type, and size. The files themselves are not included.
Good fits
- Moving a useful conversation into your notes.
- Keeping prompts and answers you want to edit or reuse.
- Saving code from a conversation with its formatting intact.
Need just part of it?
Highlight the text and choose Save selection as Markdown from the right-click menu, or use Pick an element… on one answer. Only that part is saved.
Honest limits
- Only the version of the conversation you are viewing is saved.
- Images and attachments are not stored in the file—keep the originals if you need them.
How your data is handled
When you start the export, Web Paperize uses your existing ChatGPT sign-in to request this conversation directly from ChatGPT/OpenAI. Nothing goes to a Web Paperize server—there isn't one—and your access token is used only in memory and never stored.
Read the full privacy policy. Web Paperize is independent and not affiliated with OpenAI.
